What's for Dinner
Folks, it's been such a huge two weeks for good eats in my life. Nat got their wisdom teeth out and I was getting real creative with how many different kinds of bowls of mush I could come up with. If anyone knows anything about me, I live for a bowl of mush dinner. So, this was a huge week for everyone involved. Winners were butternut squash soup, cookie skillets, risotto, huevos rancheros, and spaghetti and plant-based meatballs.

Additionally, I took a little 4th of July weekend trip to Maine and I think I ate out for almost every meal for 72 hours. Did I have a good time? Yes. Did my body? Absolutely not. Anyway...

crab cake benedict and blueberry ricotta french toast from Cove Cafe in Ogunquit, lobster rolls from Ocean Roll in Kennebunk, and a combo french 75/gin gimlet Amy made me at Chez Rosa in Kennebunk
Oodles of Doodles
This week I went to a life drawing event in JP over at Jameson and Thompson Framing off the southwest corridor. This was my first time coming to this meeting and it was great. There was no instruction, we just came in and drew for 2 hours which I loved. My drawings I felt like were a mixed bag but I had fun trying out materials and colors. Also, this is your NSFW warning for hand-drawn, penis-shaped lumps if you're not into that kinda thing.

I discovered from watching another person draw, how to block out the figure in a marker wash and then kinda carve back in the lines and shapes. I tried that with the long poses to varying degrees of success.

I think the right hand on the pink one is the best thing I've ever done
See Ya
recs!
a song i'm loving:
- TRUST! - Rebecca Black ((yall. if you havent listened to her new album SALVATION.... put the phone down rn go listen))
a movie i watched:
- Annihilation (2018) - This movie made me deeply uncomfortable (affirmative). The bear scene actually made my skin crawl.
a book i'm reading:
- I listened to all of the Audible version of Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu. This audio rocked, the actors were phenomenal and there was ambient sound design that made the listening experience 10/10. The story itself was so fun and I was shocked to discover that this was published 25 years before Dracula. For those unfamiliar, the basic plot is that a mysterious woman appears at the door of a rich, noble family in 1800s Austria. Soon after her arrival, women in the town, including the nobleman's young daughter, are stricken with a strange illness with accompanying symptoms such as weakness, bouts of sleepwalking, fever dreams centered around the mysterious guest, and peculiar puncture marks on their chests. Love a sapphic vampire novella! Highly recommend!
Until Next Time!
P.S. I leave you with a comparison image between my 17-year-old family dog and a puppet I saw at the Brimfield Flea Market

If you can tell me which is which correctly, ill mail you a dime
