Shade + Light

Shade + Light

Good morning folks! This ones a little picture heavy for all you visual learners out there. Enjoy your Friday viewing experience.

What's for Dinner

Friends, these past two weeks have churned out some excellent meals. We are finally getting real yields from the garden and also summer produce has been so incredible lately it's all resulted in some top notch dinners.

Chefs, tonight I have for you tofu dan dan noodles with broccolini
Grilled peach, buratta, pesto tarte with balsamic tomato jam and garden fresh basil
salmon caesar - nothing locally sourced here I just fw it heavy

Gardening Ho(e)s

As previously mentioned, the garden has been popping off. Although we've lost a few soldiers to the squirrels, the tomatoes are really starting to come in and we've grown an entire zucchini already!

We also planted two butternut squashes and they can't really go horizontally so they're getting insanely tall. They have some buds but no fruit yet so we shall see. Nat for scale:

Go Towards the Light

Recently, I feel like I've been noticing and appreciating good natural lighting more and fun silhouettes and shadows, et cetera. Ignore the fact that the actual scenes are not aesthetically pleasing, I was literally just looking at the light and shadows. Please appreciate things that I've been taking photos of:

tomato plant silhouette before work
realizing that 5:45-6:30am light is the best
Nat actually took this one

Bye!

rec-o-rinos:

a song i'm loving:

  • BOY CRAZY. - Kesha

a movie i watched:

  • Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977). Friends, Romans, countrymen, I'm getting into Star Wars. Didn't think I'd ever say that. We finished all of Andor (which fucks, heavily recommend that show). So then we obviously had to watch Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) (which was only ok imo, ik this was important to the canon and like restarted the franchise when Disney bought it but if I didn't have Andor as context, I would not care about any of the characters. Also, I know that Cass and Jyn aren't in the main trilogy so they had to get written out somehow but killing them off after all that is so lazy and I felt like why did they even try to get me emotionally invested in the Jyn/Erso long lost father/daughter story?? Waste of time! ALSO! My boy Cassian would never move on from Bix like that). So after that, obviously we had to continue to the first movie in the original series - which I have tried to watch before and got really bored and stopped but this time I was very engaged and really ended up liking it. It was super fun to watch all the Tatooine landscape shots and recognize some of Death Valley National Park.

a book i'm reading:

  • Nothing rn. As always, lmk if you're reading something life changing

Until Next Time!
